Hello 2014!

January 1, 2014 By SuzLoveland Leave a Comment

At the start of every new year, I get a feeling of excitement, hope and motivation to make the coming year the best one ever. The first of January is a time to start fresh, to put old habits behind us and to begin a brand new year with better habits and positive changes.

We had a very quiet new year’s eve last night and while I was laying around on the couch, I spent a lot of time reflecting on what I had achieved in 2013 and about the things I want to achieve in 2014. Some of these goals are the same as 2013 because in my mind, I didn’t quite get where I wanted to be especially in the areas of health and business.

In regards to my health, I have a sugar addiction which I have been trying hard to overcome these past few years. After really over-indulging during the last few months of 2013, I made a decision to take action to significantly reduce my sugar intake, to develop better eating habits and be more aware of everything that goes into my mouth.

My family has a history of diabetes so it’s important from a health perspective that I be more conscious and disciplined rather than just eating anything and everything that I fancy. I will not be following any special diets or programs (as I don’t believe in any of that) nor have I read any books on the subject. I know within myself the best way to go about this for me and even though it’s only been a week or two since I have consciously made the decision to change this (again!) I am certain that I have the inner strength to kick my sugar habit for good this year. I will be writing a post in the near future about my experiences with sugar addiction and the positive changes I have made in this area of my life. I look forward to being more in control and feeling better within myself.

In regards to business and success, I have dreams that I think about everyday but even though what I want to achieve has become clearer to me,  I still haven’t taken adequate steps to get myself there. This coming year is all about taking action –  positive and appropriate action.  Over the years, I have read a lot and met a lot of amazing people who have inspired me to change my life in the most exciting ways possible. With all that I have experienced and all I have learnt, I know I have the tools within me to create the success and outcomes that I dream of.  It’s the action, motivation, time management, discipline and the momentum that has been lacking.  I am focused to get through all those tasks that have been sitting on my to do list for far too long.

IF YOU DO WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS DONE,YOU’LL GET WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS GOTTEN.
Anthony Robbins

The best part of new year’s eve was going through our Good Things Jar which we started 1st of January 2013. It was nice to remember all the great things that our family experienced and shared during the year and to acknowledge how incredibly blessed we are.  This year I will continue living my life with gratitude for everything that comes our way. Every day and even on my worst days, there is always something to be grateful for.  Life is beautiful and precious and each day is a gift.

The start of a new year is filled with promises and it is exciting to think about the positive changes we can make this year.  What new year resolutions have you made this year?  What are you looking forward to in 2014?

May this year bring you many wonderful moments to be grateful for and to cherish. Happy New Year!
